Opening Ceremony X Soludos

Everyone’s favorite summer slip-on is entering the collaboration game… and it seems they’re posturing for a big, big, big summer. Why 3 ‘bigs’? Well, espadrille officianados Soludos are pairing up with 3 big collaboration players: Opening Ceremony, Mara Hoffman and J.Crew. That’s right… it seems Soludos official summer motto this season is: thrice is nice!

Opening Ceremony recently launched it’s third Soludos collaboration with seven new styles ($40-$45), J.Crew’s latest Soludos collab (cute little stripey numbers) have been available since April ($34.50), and Mara Hoffman’s Soludos versions will appear on May 21 at MaraHoffman.com ($45.) So belly on up to anyone of these three espadrille bars and prepare your warm-weather wardrobe for your latest slip-on footwear friends!

Every year around this time, many of us partake in that seasonal ritual called Spring Cleaning. And just like the rest of us, Kim Kardashian is no different… except her warm weather closet purge finds Gucci, Fendi and many, many luxe couture labels just begging for repurposing. Enter ebay. KK has listed clothing and shoes (Yes! SHOES!) on her eBay site, including the zebra striped Christian Louboutin Pumps above.

Christian Louboutin’s beloved (and well-fought for) trademark red soles are about to embark on a lipstick to match! It seems that, on the heels of Louboutin’s 20th anniversary, the iconic footwear brand has announced that it’s getting into the beauty game by partnering up with Batallure in the creation of Christian Louboutin’s cosmetic brand to be called Beaute.

“Twenty years ago I started what I thought would be a small adventure, which ended up becoming a company,” Louboutin recently said of this latest move. “The beauty adventure is a natural extension for someone like me, who likes to empower women, and to be a part of creating beauty seems like the right next step.”

As of yet, details remain under wraps, but we can assume the line will include lip and nail lacquers in the brands iconic red, with the first Christian Louboutin Beauté products expected in late 2013. Naturally, we’ll be on the lookout for any sneak peeks!

Dolce Vita is always full of exciting surprises… but this season they’ve really taken the cake! The brand recently revealed it’s spring 2012 lookbook for their DV8 collection inspired by iconic dance television show Soultrain. The spread features a 70′s and 80′s feel full of free-spirited dancing on tables, laughing and strutting around in very high, very trendy platform shoes. The collection features eight super-fly styles that are priced between $129 and $139. Here’s a few of our favorites (with some bonus table dancing to boot!)

And by ‘vanity’ I mean Brian Atwood’s Vanity Sandal, as rocked by Eva Longoria during a recent visit to the “Late Show with David Letterman.” ‘Cruel’ because this little beauty does not already reside in my shoe closet.

Perfectly paired with a dress straight of Victoria Beckham’s runway, the Brian Atwood Vanity Sandal is a dusted pink satin wonder with a darn-near theatrical back ankle embellishment of gold and fringe. Talk about a show stopper — there isn’t a single thing I would change about this one. Well played, Ms. Longoria. Well played.

Vintage Schiaparelli

Tod’s owner Diego Della Valle is planning on hiring a designer in September to reignite the vintage couture brand with accessories, fragrances, cosmetics and clothing to launch next February. Della Valle recently told WWD, “The idea with Schiaparelli is to propose the brand with all its modernity, and represent dreams, art and all the most sophisticated things we can do.”

Actress Farida Khelfa has already been hired to star as face of the brand, with her first “assignment” being to show at the Met Gala’s preview in vintage Schiaparelli — and the first Schiaparelli boutique will set up shop at 21 Place Vendôme in Paris, the same address at which Elsa Schiaparelli opened her first boutique.

As Della Valle is no stranger to reopeneding old-fashion brands (recall his 2002 revival of shoe label Roger Vivier), so we can only assume this will be a smashing success.

Daringly risking a “wardrobe malfunction”, Chloe Sevigny posed on the Met Gala’s red carpet in her typical risk-taking style in head-to-toe Miu Miu — a cut-out, mirrored geometric number and something the brand is calling their Fall 2012 Ankle Boot – which, to my shoe-loving eye, looks strikingly similar to the Marc Jacobs Pilgrim shoe. Let’s compare, shall we?

Hmmm… is it a pilgrim shoe? Is it an ankle boot?

Alright… to be fair… there were all sorts of fair damsels donning spectacular frocks and footwear at this week’s MET ball, but for me personally, Ms. Christina Ricci took top billing.

As if the Thakoon form fitting dress and it’s impressive back bow weren’t enough to bring tears of joy to the eye, she paired it perfectly with the singularly spectacular Suki pump by designer Walter Steiger. This patent leather powerhouse is all classic, feminine lines, right down to it’s bowed high heel. Here’s a little profile shot to illustrate our copious amounts of love for this shoe. Honestly, it literally takes our breath away.

TOMS latest canvas ballet flat options are awash with color-blocking, animal print and all sorts of color saturated styles (just in time for the colorific spring fashions!)
